We work with a small number of specialist and highly respected accredited training organisations including a large contractor which is a market leader in its sector with a highly motivated, trained, experienced, and competent team, all of whom are trained by their own in house specialist trainers.

Training courses, Health and Safety consultancy and Training facilities are now available to our clients and candidates. We have access to a wealth of experience and the highest calibre of construction industry trainers within the team – catering for front line operations at site level, administrative support and client training, which enables a focused training course delivery, yet relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for delgates.

We offer a professional service for our clients in safety consultancy. All Health and Safety advisor's are highly trained and Chartered Members of IOSH. We aim to meet our clients needs by consulting with, and where necessary advising them on their responsibilities within legislations and best practice.We will, where practicable, tailor our courses to meet our client's needs, and will cater for both on site training, or at a new modernised training facility in Oldham.

FACEFIT TESTING of RPE

(Respiratory Protective Equipment)

RPE

It is a legal requirement to wear suitable Face Fit tested RPE on site when conducting work which may cause you or nearby workers to breath in substances under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, the Control of Lead at Work Regulations and the Control of Asbestos Regulations.

A simple 20 minute test can tell you whether a mask size, shape or material is suitable for a particular operative.


Bamford Contract Services construction team are now fully trained competent Face Fit testers and we are pleased to announce our Qualitative Face Fit testing service in accordance with the HSE OC 282/28.

Our Face Fit service is available to any company or individual working in a profession or sector which requires them by law to wear a Face Fit tested mask. The testing service can be carried out at a company's premises, site office or at our own facility in Greater Manchester.


We also offer the testing free to the majority of our sub contract / temporary workers and we can provide suitable masks ( half face) at reasonable cost.

First Aid courses
With a wealth of experience our tutors will guide you through the training in line with current legal requirements. First aid Training can be delivered at your client’s premises or at our training facility. The large lecture rooms being ideal for both theoretical and practical training.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) 1 day
This new HSE approved qualification came into effect on the 1st October 2009, along with new guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. Your risk assessment of First Aid needs may well identify the need for Emergency First Aider's, either as an addition to your First Aider's, or where the risk of your business is low, it may well identify them as being sufficient, without the need of additional First Aider's.

First Aid At Work (FAW) 3 day
It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If the assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need for qualified First Aider's, then this course will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

This comprehensive 3-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. All successful students will be issued with a new First Aid at Work Certificate, lasting for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their first aid qualifications.

FAW Re-fresher training 2 day
It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If the assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need to maintain the qualification of your First Aider's, then this course will provide you with that.

This comprehensive 2-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. In addition to this, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated. All successful students will be issued with a new First Aid at Work Certificate, lasting for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualification. This course will give participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

CITB SITE SAFETY PLUS SCHEME

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) (five days)

This course is designed for construction site managers, agents, quantity surveyors, construction directors and project directors, and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and workforce.

The course covers all relevant legislation and other issues that affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.

Health and Safety Awareness (one day)

This course is to help those who are about to work, or have just begun to work in the industry to understand the potential hazards they face on site. It provides a practical summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, identifying the Delegate's responsibility for looking after themselves and others, outlines the employer's duties and explains what should be done if the worker thinks that anyone's health and safety is being put at risk. The course is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry accreditation card.

A natural progression from this course would be to attend The Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme or a Supervisor Specialist Skills course.

 

The Site Supervisor's Safety Training Scheme (two days)

The course is designed for first line managers, foremen, gangers, team leaders and supervisors: those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities and need to understand their legal duties to better contribute to the instruction, supervision and monitoring of tasks and activities to ensure safety on site.

A natural progression from this course would be to attend the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher Course (two days)

The refresher course is for Delegates who have previously passed the full five-day (SMSTS) or subsequent two-day Refresher course and can provide proof of attendance. It aims to bring their health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of legislative changes and their impact in the workplace.

The course includes a wide range of topics, some building on those contained within the five-day course programme and others introducing new subjects.

IPAF MEWPS

The aim of the IPAF MEWP course is to instruct an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operators Licence.

Objectives:-

At the end of the course the operator will:

  • Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  • Be aware of accident prevention and control.
  • Be aware of the needs regarding personnel protection.
  • Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual.
  • Drive the MEWP safely and manoeuvre the machine as required, to correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner, inside and outside a building.

The training course can be facilitated on site or with our machines at our training facility in the North West near Manchester.The training day consists of theoretical training and assessment in the morning followed by practical training and assessment in the afternoon.

Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) – is a card scheme to prove the skills of plant operators. CPCS is the largest and most highly recognised card scheme for the plant industry. SHORT DURATION COURSES

Fire Marshal Training (1/2 day)
The Fire Marshal training is in line with current legislation and covers both theoretical training including a video “Fire Marshal the front line of defence” and practical fire fighting. The following subjects will be covered, and the course culminates with a question paper.

  • Know the responsibilities of the Fire Marshal
  • Recognise active fire prevention measures.
  • Know the fire triangle and how fires start.
  • Know the actions to be taken in the event of a fire.
  • Know the Fire Marshals role in the event of a fire.
  • Selection and operation of the appropriate extinguisher.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate outlining the objectives of the training day, practical fire fighting and date of issue.

All certification is serial numbered and a 3 year renewal date is implemented on completion of training.

Asbestos awareness training course (1/2 day)
The Asbestos awareness training course is designed to help employers and employees understand the risks associated with working alongside asbestos. This asbestos awareness training gives details on all the legal regulations and allows companies to comply with the COSHH 2002 regulations and the Control of Asbestos 2012 regulations.

Traffic Marshal/Banksman Training (1/2 day)
The Traffic Marshall/Banksman training course ensures that any organisation that has to supervise or assist in the moving, loading and/or unloading of vehicles can meet its legal requirements and reduce the risks that can occur when carrying out even the simplest activities in the workplace.

The Fully Automatic Quick Hitch Training course (1/2 day)

To give delegates an understanding of the fully automatic hitch. Identify the hazards associated with quick hitch devices. Understand how to use quick hitch devices safely in the workplace.

Cable detection (Cat & Gen) 1 day
The Cable detection will cover the following objectives, legislation & Safe Systems of Work, Electromagnetic Location Theory & Limitations, Use and Applications, Transmitter & Accessories, Sonde Practical Content; Use of Locators, Use of Transmitters, Depth Estimation, Use of Accessories.

Abrasive wheel awareness (1/2 day)
Abrasive wheel awareness training is in line with current legislation (Provision of Work Equipment Regulations 1998). The course is half day duration and covers the composition, types, mounting and safe use of abrasive wheels. A short video is used to reconfirm the teaching points before operatives move onto practically mounting the wheel.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate outlining the objectives of the training day, practical fire fighting and date of issue. All certification is serial numbered and a 3 year renewal date is implemented on completion of training.
